Welcome to Alejandrina's Art World

My name is Alejandrina De La Rosa I was born in Mexico City in 1981. I grew up in a big family with the colourful influences of my Mexican culture all around. My desire for art came from an early age and the powerful work of Frida Khalo, Francis Bacon and Basquait had profound effects on me.
In 2001 I moved to Australia and found I was drawn to the Northern and Central desert style of Indigenous art. Perhaps because of my own indigenous background in Mexico. In 2009 I created a body painting exhibition of women with breast cancer. The 20 women all experienced profound feelings of empowerment and the photographic result was a stunning success, i guess the canvas doesnt matter as long as i can paint.
Moving between Mexico and Australia for the last 5 years, I feel I’ve found a style of my own that incorporates all that I have experienced between cultures, especially the colours that my own motherland is famous for and that I’m drawn to.
In between my own imagination, I have been painting pet portraits for people as a way to help support my personal work. I love animals as much as I love people and the sad stories around us.
